Conventional cameras capture the light reflected off from objects that are focused. On the contrary, the digital field camera captures the colors, intensity and direction of every light ray falling on the camera lens.This is done with the help of a light field sensor that captures a scene in four dimensions thus creating a richer set of data for each picture.The object to be focused, from among the entire image captured on the lens, can be decided at a later time to be printed out. The light field camera has resulted from research carried out in 2002 by Dr. RenNg, Founder and CEO of Lytro, in the area of light field science at the Stanford University.
The first light field camera, unveiled by LytroInc based in California, boasts a sleek, compact design with 8x optical zoom lens, which features a constant f/2 aperture.The company has also announced their upcoming feature in 2012 would be the possibility of shooting and viewing 3D pictures with the help of special light field algorithms. The Lytro camera lets users to instantly upload their pictures on Facebook. The Lytro camera is currently priced at $399. Available in three different colors (Electric Blue, Graphite and Red Hot),Lytro can also be ordered online on the website.
Technology is growing in leaps and bounds. Sometimes it is hard to cope with an ever-changing plethora of gadgets to help us do things the ‘easy way’. The Digital field camera challenges the core principle of photography, namely the act of focusing on a specific object to take a photo. One thing I’d really like to say is the fact that before buying more laptop or computer memory, consider the machine in to which it could be installed. In case the machine is definitely running Windows XP, for instance, the actual memory limit is 3.25GB. The installation of greater than this would easily constitute any waste. Make sure that one’s mother board can handle the actual upgrade volume, as well. Great blog post.
